“I definitely think that’s going to have an impact on attendances this year for every women’s team, and obviously the Euros, with England winning, I think it’s going to have a massive impact on attendances as well, so I’m really positive about getting bigger crowds.

“We already know from social media that many people have got tickets for Sunday, so we are expecting a big crowd, a very noisy crowd.

'We always play much better when we’ve got a big crowd supporting us. So let’s hope that’s the case.'

The recent European Championship, which saw hosts England beat Germany after extra-time to lift the trophy, has certainly heightened raised the profile of the women’s game. And Fran Alonso believes it shows there is a big appetite from fans to watch it.

“It’s a product that people want and with the right promotion and the right marketing, I think we will achieve huge crowds,” he said. “Last year in Spain there was two world record attendances set by Barcelona, and the Euros final was a record attendance – for men or women.

“That definitely tells you how much of an appetite these is for the women’s game. So hopefully between all of us working together we can get world record crowds in every single Scottish stadium this year.”
