And the right-back believes that the nomination for Manager of the Year is an appropriate reflection of the Celtic manager's work.

He said: “It’s recognition of the work he’s done over the course of the season with the team.

“You see the way we’ve played, everyone has contributed to the efforts of the team and the style of play, so it’s more than deserved.

"This is the club that I want to play my football and I’ve been 'My mentality has always stayed the same, but the gaffer has helped in terms of implementing his style of play and the trust is there.'a fan all my life, so having the consistency of playing week-in week-out and being involved in the games and contributing to the team has been the main thing.

“I’ve tried to embrace it as much as possible, listen to him, and it’s been working because he’s done a great job overall.”

And Ralston, a Celtic fan who has progressed through the club's Academy and into the first-team, is delighted with the way the season has gone for him and the team.

“We’ve got a great changing room and everyone that’s been here from previous years or this year, we’ve embraced each other,” he said.

“Especially with the Japanese boys and the language barrier there, we’ve had a lot of time to bond with each other and that’s driven by the manager and the personnel he brings in.

'I feel this season we’ve gelled really well and that shows on the pitch.'

“I like to have a bit of banter and that’s important in the changing room and it’s important you make an effort where there is a language barrier and people are trying to settle.

“It’s important that if you’ve been here a length of time and understand the club, then you help them settle and we’ve got a great changing room of players that can do that.”
