Hoops defender, Greg Taylor turned in a sterling performance in the vital 2-0 win over Ross County, and while the goal-scoring exploits of Kyogo and Jota will claim the headlines, it was the almost under-the-radar committed display executed by the left-back and others that paid testament to the Ange Postecoglou mantra that it’s a team game.

His is just one role in a cast who illustrated that, in Celtic’s case, the whole is greater than the sum of its parts as the Hoops overturned the threat of the Highland side by utilising the unswerving belief that each player has in himself and his team-mates.

Taylor told Celtic TV following the game: “It was strong first-half performance. They tried to press us but we managed to break through quite a few times and probably should have had a few more goals in the first half.

“But again, we stuck to our principles, tried to play the way we want to play and managed to get the three points.

'You don’t play in this system if you don’t work hard and the gaffer stresses that we work hard from Monday to the day of the game.'

“In the second half they put us under a wee bit more pressure. We probably got a wee bit stuck in building up but we managed to break through and get that important second goal at a key time later on.

“We work, as I touched on, from Monday to Friday to be ready for the games at the weekend. We train as hard as we can every day and try to improve every day, and we’ll continue to do that until the final whistle.”

With a six-point lead, a healthy goal difference and just four games left to play, three of them at home, there is still no chance of Taylor and hius team-mates counting their chickens before they hatch.

The defender said: “We can’t, we’ve not done that throughout the whole season, whether it’s been a good result or a bad result.

”We’ve just been focusing purely on our performance and trying to improve every day.

“We’ll continue to do that in the four final league games and hopefully that puts us in a good position near the end.”
