Tommy McIntyre was delighted with his side’s performance following an at times hard-fought 2-0 league victory over Gala Fairydean Rovers this evening (Wednesday).

Goals from Ciaran Dickson and Adam Brooks made the difference on the night, and goalkeeper Tobi Oluwayemi had a number of top-class saves at the other end.

The Celtic B Team manager said the win meant even more given the standard of opposition, whose organisation and fitness he singled out for praise.

“It was good to get the result and it was good to get a few players back who we’ve been missing,” said McIntyre. “I thought we created some terrific chances in the game, some of the play was excellent.

‘We rode our luck a little bit towards the end with balls going into the box, but I think you can expect that. Overall, I thought our energy levels were excellent.’

“Tobi fills the goal really well. We had a lot of balls coming to the box that he dealt with. There are ways to nullify that, and that’s maybe something we need to improve at.

“Gala Fairydean are a really good side, they’re fit, well-organised and they played in the right manner, getting some good balls into the box. When you’re playing against teams like that, you’ve got to nullify those chances. But we handled it and Tobi did well.”

Now, the Celtic B Team have two weeks until their next fixture – a league game against Cumbernauld Colts on Friday, September 24.

The manager added: “We’ll do a bit of work, some video analysis as well, some individual stuff and we’ll probably have one or two days’ rest as well because I think we probably need it.

“We’ll try manage that time as best we can, but we’re always focusing on the next game.”
