Josip Juranovic is happy to be shouldered with the responsibility for taking any penalties Celtic are awarded, and having converted both spot-kicks he’s taken so far – against Real Betis and St Johnstone – he’s confident of adding to his goals tally this season.

However, for the Croatian internationalist, he’s more pleased with the fact he’s back in action following an injury picked up in the home match against Dundee United last month.

That saw him sidelined for a month, so he was delighted to return to the starting XI on Saturday, playing his part in the 2-0 victory over St Johnstone.

And he’s hoping for an injury-free run know, with the games coming thick and fast for the Hoops.

Speaking ahead of tonight’s game against Hibernian at Easter Road, the 26-year-old said: “When you’re injured and you’re watching your team-mates out on the pitch, you feel terrible and I don’t want to feel that again.

“It was terrible because I want to help and to lead also. I want to play games, to hear our fans.

“I’ve taken two penalties and scored them both. Before the match against Betis, the manager has us practicing penalties and I scored three times so because of that I’m on the penalties.

“I want to be relaxed when I take the ball I just think about the sides, pick one and that’s it.”

And the Croatian defender is also enjoying playing under Ange Postecoglou and the style of football he’s implementing at Celtic.

“It’s very different,” Juranovic said, “but I’m happy because the ball’s always at my feet and I’m always in the middle and it’s a perfect style for me.”
