Confidence is understandably high in the Celtic Women's team squad after a 17-match unbeaten run in the league, and the Hoops are hoping to extend that record this weekend when they take on Partick Thistle.

Fran Alonso's side are in action on Sunday (KO: 2pm), and the Celtic manager is looking for another positive result, although he knows that the Hoops face a Thistle side who will provide a tough test, having only narrowly lost to Glasgow City in midweek.

Speaking ahead of Sunday's game, Fran Alonso said: "Glasgow City experienced it themselves - Partick Thistle are well-drilled and very good defensively.

They don’t leave big gaps between the lines. They slow the tempo down and they know how to use tactical free kicks."

Having three games in a week - a 2-1 win against Hibernian followed by a 4-0 midweek victory over Motherwell - the Hoops boss hasn’t been afraid of making changes to his starting XI and also changing the formation of the team.

“The most important reason for making so many changes is because I’ve got 23 players and I trust every single one of them," he explained. "When we can and when they’re working hard in training, they will be rewarded, regardless of the name on the back.

'We’ve got an idea of the team, but today is the last training day so we’ll find out the last positions that we have doubts with.'

"The Hibs game was very hard on the legs. We won in the last minute, but you need to be fighting until the last minute.”

Fran Alonso has also been pleased with the way the new signings have settled into the squad. Charlie Wellings has scored seven goals in eight games and Clarissa Larisey scored her first goal in the green and white Hoops against Motherwell.

The manager said: “I’m delighted that the players we have brought in are making a great impact and getting goals, but also in the way we are playing the assists."
