It’s back to domestic action this Sunday following the midweek knife-edge UEFA Europa League drama in Germany as Celtic so very nearly got the win their endeavour deserved against Bundesliga outfit, Bayer Leverkusen.

The excitement won’t abate any this weekend, however, because, as big as Aberdeen encounters usually are, this one has the added factor of Scott Brown leading a team out of the Paradise tunnel once more – albeit a team wearing the red of the Pittodrie outfit.

The teams clashed in the Granite City back at the start of October, also immediately following a Euro outing against Leverkusen, and on that occasion a late goal from Jota gave the Hoops a 2-1 win after the home side had earlier equalised Kyogo’s opener in an exciting encounter.

Hoops manager, Ange Postecoglou said immediately following Thursday night’s strength-sapping game in Germany: “It’s a big match, it’s back into the league and it’s an important game at home back at Celtic Park so we want to keep the momentum going in the league.

“Obviously after a big European night we just want to make sure the players recover well and we may have to make some changes to just make sure that the team is up and ready for it.”

It is, of course, the Hoops’ first game at Paradise since the Celtic Family lost Bertie Auld, and with the supporters no doubt singing the Lisbon Lion’s praises off the park, the manager is intent on his players doing Bertie proud on it.

He said on Thursday: “It’s been a pretty emotional 10 days and we shouldn’t miss any opportunity to honour him and represent him in the best possible manner.

“The way we’ll do it as a team is to go out there and hopefully put on a performance that he would’ve smiled at.”
