Tommy McIntyre, Darren O’Dea and the rest of the B team coaches have been implementing the coaching methods of Ange Postecoglou with the aim to create as smooth a pathway as possible to the first team.

O'Dea said of the coaching and playing style: “Through the whole Youth Academy, it probably dilutes the further you go down, but we’re obviously the direct team just below, so how we play and the style of play is very much aligned to the first team and how the manager wants.

‘That’s fantastic for myself personally, just as a young coach, getting the access to the manager and seeing how he works and the way he likes things done.’

“I think it’s instrumental in making the transition from B team to first team more seamless, that they’re hearing consistent messages that if they do step up, they understand what the manager wants.

“So I would suggest the B team is very much aligned, the 18s will have a very good grasp of it, and as you go down the ages then it’s more about just holistic player development.

“So absolutely, we try to align as best as we can with the first team. The manager has been here for five months and it’s on us as coaches to take on as much information as possible and filter that down.”

There’s no first-team action this weekend, so why not try and get along to support the young Hoops in Airdrie this Saturday as they carry on with their Scottish Lowland League campaign.

The game against Broomhill is at the Penny Cars Stadium, Airdrie this Saturday, November 13 (KO: 1pm) so get along to cheer on the Celtic B team in their league fixture.
