Hot on the heels of signing a new contract and extending his stay at Celtic until at least 2025, Anthony Ralston turned in another commanding and match-winning performance as his attacking wing-play helped deliver a 4-2 win over Dundee.

So much so, that he had two vital assists in the win to add to a more than impressive goal and assist tally for this season under Ange Postecoglou, as the right-back seems to have another contract out on any opposition Celtic face.

The defender said following the win: “I’m delighted. It was a good win today, the boys did brilliantly. We attacked well, we defended when we needed to defend. It was a bit disappointing with the two goals, but it’s something we’ll analyse as a defensive unit and clear up.

‘But overall it was a fantastic day and I’m glad for the travelling fans that we got a win.’

“And for me on a personal note, it’s always good to contribute in an attacking sense and get two assists today, so I’m delighted.”

The defender is also relishing his time with the manager, and added: “As I’ve said before, he’s been brilliant since I’ve come in and he’s given me the opportunity to play and learn the position in a new way that I’ve never seen before.

“I’m learning every day, I’m going in to training with the attitude to learn and to come out here in games and implement it into them, so I’m enjoying it.”

Celtic supporters like any club fans are always in a state of worry at international breaks for fear of players coming back injured, but there has been a growing wonderment as to why Ralston isn’t in the Scotland squad – and he added to the bafflement with another masterful input at Dens Park.

However, he’s now looking forward to the international break for other reasons. He said: “I’ll just rest up and take care of anything recovery-wise, spend a bit of time with the family and get back to work when everyone gets back together.”
