After an impressive 1-0 win to progress to the League Cup semi-finals last weekend, Celtic Women go head-to-head with Rangers again on Sunday in the SWPL.

The Ghirls head into the Glasgow derby on the back of an impressive 3-0 away victory over Hearts on Wednesday night and remain undefeated in their last 25 games in all competitions.

Victory on Sunday would also continue Fran Alonso’s perfect record against Rangers and he believes it will provide his side extra confidence.

He said: “We are higher in confidence now compared to last Sunday. It doesn’t mean it will be easier, it will probably be more difficult as the surprise factor is now gone.

'Whatever happens in the game, I don’t think it will have a massive impact in the league - it’s still early days.'

“But for me, these three points are super important, especially in front of our fans. We are desperate to try and win the game but we know it will be very difficult.

“We have managed to win five games against them, which is unbelievable. These games are so even and mean so much for both clubs. For me, we are underdogs, but we don’t mind being in that position.”

The game will be streamed live for all season ticket holders on the Pass to Paradise. However, for such a crucial match, Fran is hoping for a bumper crowd, to push the Ghirls over the line.

“I think the extra motivation that the fans can give us is very important, so if you are here in Glasgow come and support us and get us flying like you always do.

“We hope we can put on a performance to make the fans proud, ideally with a lot of people in the stadium, but if not we can make them proud watching at home.”
