Celtic return to domestic action this weekend when they travel to Dens Park to take on Dundee.

It’s the last game before the latest break for international fixtures, and Ange Postecoglou’s side will be aiming to sign off with a victory.

Having gone into the last break on the back of a 2-1 victory over Aberdeen at Pittodrie, the Hoops returned to action and kicked off an impressive run of form, winning five of their six fixtures to date, and drawing just one – a goal-less draw against Livingston last weekend.

And they go into Sunday’s lunchtime kick-off full of confidence following an impressive away win over Ferencvaros in Hungary, which has ensured European football after Christmas for the club.

Speaking ahead of the game at Dens Park, Celtic captain Callum McGregor said: “Credit to Livingston last weekend. They defended well, but it was often 10 or 11 behind the ball. It was a difficult game and it’s about learning, drawing teams out and getting them on the outside.

'All the league games are vital in terms of trying to close the gap, but we’ve take one more step and it’s important that we continue that momentum.'

“Dundee will be a different game in terms of the style, but we have to learn from last week. We need to make sure when the moments come, we take maximum points.”

And the 3-2 win in Hungary, courtesy of goals from Kyogo, Jota and Liel Abada, is a sign of the team’s continuing progress this season.

“The boys have settled in so well and the manager has a system he wants them to play. It’s come together really quickly,” said McGregor.

“When you have so many new players hungry to do well, that’s what you get with everyone buying in.

“The manager wants us to play our football in Europe like we do domestically. He told us that not many teams come away in Europe and play like that.”
