David Turnbull said Celtic are determined to impress in their final two games of the campaign with the aim of carrying that momentum into next season.

Celtic will play their final home game in the Scottish Premiership tomorrow (Wednesday) against St Johnstone before closing off the season at Easter Road against Hibernian.

It will likely be a difficult two games for the Hoops with both of Celtic’s upcoming opponents in the Scottish Cup final.

Turnbull said the Celtic players were not distracted by any of the ongoing preparations for next season behind the scenes and were only concerned with putting on a strong performance in the remaining games.

“We want to go into the two games and finish on a high,” said Turnbull.

'We all know it’s been a tough season but we’re looking forward to the last two games. We need to go out there and try to put on a good performance and take that into next season.'

“As a team, we look to perform in every game. Whether anyone’s watching, we always try to impress and work hard for the team.

“They’ve [St Johnstone] been playing very well this season. They’ve got good results, have won one cup and are going for their second. It’s about playing to our strengths, going out there and trying to get the win.”

Turnbull is approaching the end of his first season at Celtic and the Hoops midfielder said he was looking forward to continuing to show what he could do in the 2021/22 season.

“People have seen what I can do and it’s about doing that consistently,” he said. “I feel as if I’ve brought that into my game. I feel great going into next season after this year. This season was about getting back fully fit after a year out, creating chances and scoring as many goals as I can. I’ll be looking to do that even more next season.

“I want to help get us back up there where we belong. I’ll try my best and hopefully next season we can go on and do big things.”
