John Kennedy said he’ll use his squad to its fullest as the Hoops stare down a visit from St Johnstone tomorrow (Wednesday) and a trip to Easter Road at the weekend.

To this end, the Celtic interim manager said he’s working with a core of 20 or so players and while he intends to make tweaks over the course of both games, he aims to maintain stability throughout the matchday squad.

With the end of the 2020/21 campaign approaching, John Kennedy said he wants his players to finish the season with two good performances, and expects a tough game against Callum Davidson’s side tomorrow night at Celtic Park.

“We’ve got two games in the space of three days which we’ve not had in a while so we’ll be able to utilise the squad over the last two games,” said John Kennedy. “It gives us a chance to look at a few, but at the same time we want to still finish the season off well and with good performances.

‘It’ll be a tough game against St Johnstone. They’re a team who’ll be highly motivated regarding the situation they’re in. Callum has done a fantastic job there.’

Callum Davidson has enjoyed success in his first year in charge at McDiarmid Park, having already secured this season’s League Cup and a top-six finish in the Premiership, and having overcome St Mirren at Hampden last weekend to progress to the 2021 Scottish Cup final.

John Kennedy added: “I know Callum well, he’s a very humble guy, but the job he’s done there has been absolutely terrific.

“What he’s done to the club, the stability he’s brought there, the way they play, they all know their roles very clearly, and he’s obviously won the League Cup and has recently got them into the Scottish Cup final.

“So, a terrific job there, he’s got a really honest group of players there who work ever so hard to fulfil their roles in the team, and they’ve been successful this season. We expect a tough game come tomorrow.”
