Sunday's 3-0 home win over Motherwell was Celtic's sixth consecutive league victory, and the impressive run of form has seen the Hoops move into second place in the league.

They're now just five points off the leaders, Glasgow City, who are next up for Celtic this Wednesday night (May 12). And while manager Fran Alonso is delighted with the form of his team, he's not looking at the table just now, given that there are still seven games remaining in the current campaign.

Speaking to the Celtic View Podcast after the victory over Motherwell, which came courtesy of goals from Sarah Teegarden and a Rachel Donaldson double, the Celtic manager said: “I’m delighted. You see how competitive the league is this year, especially in the top spots, and how difficult every game is.

'Every single game is a big challenge, and to manage to win six in a row is not easy, and we have to be proud of the performance of the girls.'

“On Sunday, it was a great first-half, which is what we really wanted, and then in the second-half, we managed just to control the game and rest some legs, which is needed, because we’ve got six games in less than three weeks (after Wednesday’s game against Glasgow City), so it’s a very busy schedule.”

And looking ahead to Wednesday night’s clash against the reigning champions, Fran Alonso said: “We’ll go to training today (Monday), and training tomorrow, so the game really starts now for us. It doesn’t start on Wednesday. The girls know that and, so far, they have been very professional and very good with their preparations.

“We just focus on the next game and, for us, it’s irrelevant what anyone is saying or what will happen at the end of the season. We’ve just got one job and that’s to try to win on Wednesday against Glasgow City.”
