With tributes flooding in from fans, players and coaches alike following Scott Brown’s decision to leave Celtic this summer, Scott Bain has described his team-mate and friend as one of a kind.

The Hoops stopper said he’s never come across a player of Brown’s calibre in his career to date, and knows the outgoing club captain’s presence will be hugely missed on and off the pitch.

“It’s been fantastic getting to play with Scott,” said Bain in an exclusive interview with the official Celtic website. “He’s one of a kind, you’ll never get someone like him at Celtic for another 10 plus years.

“The effect he has on each individual player in the dressing room on and off the pitch is something I’ve never seen before. On the pitch he’ll be missed but on the training ground and around Lennoxtown and the stadium he’ll be missed for how he keeps everyone on their toes.”

Bain added Brown has left a blueprint on how to be a Celtic captain, and that future captains will now know exactly what’s required of them following the 35-year-old’s example.

He added: “I don’t think there’ll be another one like him. Future captains will look to people like him and try to emulate all the positives that he’s brought to the team over the years.

“It’s been a pleasure to play with him and share a pitch for him. He’s achieved unbelievable things for the club and I hope he gets the send-off he deserves.”
