Conor Hazard said he was over the moon to sign a new two-year contract with Celtic and promised there was much more to come from him as he aims to build on his breakthrough season at Paradise.

The 22-year-old goalkeeper finalised his new deal with Celtic earlier today (Wednesday), ensuring he will remain at the club until at least the summer of 2023.

Hazard initially signed for Celtic in the summer of 2014 as a 16-year-old. He progressed through the Academy ranks and made his senior debut earlier this season in Celtic’s 3-2 win over Lille at Celtic Park in the Europa League.

It’s been a whirlwind campaign for the Northern Ireland international who had his first taste of silverware 10 days after making his Hoops bow. That was in the Scottish Cup final against Hearts on December 20^th and Hazard saved two penalties in the penalty shoot-out to help Celtic clinch the Quadruple Treble.

Hazard was delighted to sign a new deal with Celtic after having the opportunity to make seven first-team competitive appearances so far this season.

“I’m over the moon,” said Hazard. “It was a long process and I’m delighted to get it over and done with.

'Even just to make my debut was amazing. I played five games in the league, the Europa League game and then the cup final which was unbelievable and something I’ll never forget.

“Just playing seven games altogether this season has given me a great boost in my confidence. I go into training every day knowing there’s an opportunity to get in the team and go and perform and get a few wins.

“It’s given me confidence. Playing at a big club like this, there’s a lot of pressure from fans. The fans are amazing and it’s crazy when you go into Asda and places like that and start getting recognised.”
