Ange Postecoglou said ensuring homegrown talent continues to emerge from the Celtic Youth Academy will be a big focus of his work as manager, and explained that he is already hard at work as he prepares for his move to Scotland.

Speaking to Celtic TV, the new Hoops boss Ange Postecoglou revealed he has already been working closely with incoming Chief Executive Dominic McKay as they begins laying the foundations for the future.

“I’ve been in constant contact with the club chief executive, and Dominic and I have already got a really good relationship going,” he said. “He’s given me a great outline of where the club’s at, at the moment and where the priorities are from a playing point of view and a staffing point of view.

“From my perspective, when I get there I’ll have done a lot of work anyway because I really think from the moment I touch ground there, I’ll get in amongst it and get as much information as possible so I can make the best decisions for the club moving forward.

“I’ve always followed the club’s fortunes anyway. We’ve always had an Australian connection with Tom Rogic and I’ve always followed his career. Daniel Arzani was there and before that people like Scott McDonald and Marc Viduka.

“It’s a club I’ve followed for a long time so I’ve had a look at their performances last year and have an idea of where we’re at. We have a lot of work to do for sure and there are some big games coming up.

“We want to start the season really positively. There’s no magic formula for that, it’s just hard work and once I get there I can’t wait to get to work with the staff and the players. That’s the exciting bit for me, and my job is to make sure they all realise their potential and hopefully produce something special for the club.”
