Ismaila Soro put in yet another impressive performance in the heart of midfield last night (Wednesday) to help Celtic to a 2-0 win over Hamilton Accies.

Neil Lennon’s side took the lead early on through a wonderful Leigh Griffiths strike in the 11th minute, and the Hoops continued to test the Accies defence and goalkeeper with numerous chances, though the visitors managed to go into the break only a goal down.

Odsonne Edouard struck a couple of minutes after the break to double Celtic’s lead and the Hoops maintained the pressure on their opponents in search of more goals.

Hamilton were never able to settle into the game and the Celtic midfield played a pivotal role in that. Soro’s relentless work ethic to win back possession and quickly move the ball forward helped set the tone for his team and ensured Accies rarely threatened in front of goal.

The Ivorian was awarded Man of the Match after the game and was pleased to be recognised for his hard work.

“I’m very happy with the game and I’m very happy with the victory because I worked very hard,” said the 22-year-old. “I’m very happy with the man of the match.”

Neil Lennon will be aiming to chalk up another win when they play host to St Mirren this Saturday, although they will face a side boosted by a 5-1 win over Dundee United at Tannadice last night.

However, the Hoops will go into the game full of confidence and Soro was measured in his approach to the important games that lie ahead for Celtic and said the team’s focus is firmly fixed only on the next opponent.

“We’ll focus on the next game,” he said. “We’ll take it step by step, and game by game.”
