Callum McGregor said Celtic must learn quickly from their mistakes after their goal-less draw against Livingston at Paradise.

With Neil Lennon, John Kennedy and 13 first-team players having to isolate, Gavin Strachan took charge of the team again, which showed two changes to the side that drew with Hibernian on Monday.

Livingston, on the other hand, arrived in Glasgow on form, having won their last nine games. David Martindale’s team looked determined to take advantage of the situation, but neither side could find the back of the net and had to share the points.

Callum McGregor, captaining the side in the absence of Scott Brown, said that Celtic under-performed and allowed their opponents played to their strengths.

“Livingston were feeling good about themselves," he said. "They’ve won a lot of games recently and are on a good run. They understand the game. They get the ball forward, use their presence and run off the ball. That’s all the basics of the game.

“In the first half, we put ourselves under pressure with too many short passes. We have to turn them in those situations and get a bit of territory. We were really poor but second half we were a little bit better. You could see at times when we got those wee bits of play, we could create chances.

McGregor highlighted the areas he felt Celtic fell short in, and insisted they had to quickly learn from their mistakes.

“We weren’t good enough," he admitted. "We took far too long to get going in the first half. We put ourselves under pressure and didn’t understand the game. In terms of trying to build out, we were putting ourselves under pressure and giving them territory.

“Some of the guys who came in did well. I thought Tony did well. We’re dropping too many points, so we have to learn quickly, that’s for sure.”
