Neil Lennon is confident Celtic can build on their two most recent performances and harness the disappointment from their last meeting with St Mirren to ensure a positive result tomorrow night (Wednesday).

The Hoops will return to league action tomorrow when they travel to Paisley to face Jim Goodwin’s St Mirren who currently sit sixth in the Scottish Premiership having won three of their last four league games.

Celtic won 2-1 when they last paid a visit to St Mirren back in September but the Saints reversed the score when they took all three-points at Celtic Park less than two weeks ago.

Neil Lennon’s side have responded well since then with a 4-0 win away to Kilmarnock and a 2-1 against Motherwell at Paradise. The Celtic manager said facing St Mirren again so soon after the last meeting was an ideal opportunity to make up from the disappointment of the previous result.

“It’s difficult to put my finger on the performance against St Mirren the last time,” said Neil Lennon. “We just didn’t seem to have that zip about us at all. We certainly lacked concentration at times as well. The game’s come around again quickly so we’re looking for a far better performance and build on the two previous performances of late.

“St Mirren didn’t get off to a great start but they’ve found a good way of playing and have shown good consistency as well. They’ve recruited well and they’re in a very solid position in the league.

“I’m expecting more of the same from them. They counter-attacked really well and defended really well against us at times but we were definitely not at it in the final third. That’s a real motivation for us going into the game tomorrow night.”

Neil Lennon said he has been pleased with the attitude from his players recently to improve results and revealed the squad has been given a boost with the return of some key players.

“The energy and body language of the players has improved. The performances in the previous two games were very good. I’ve spoken to a few of the players individually and they all seem in decent spirits at the minute.

“James Forrest is back in training but tomorrow night’s too soon for him. He’s a welcome boost to the squad. Shane Duffy had a bit of the bug the last couple of days but he’s back training today and should be available for selection. Ryan’ back in the squad as well.”
