Neil Lennon applauded Celtic’s character to come from a goal behind to take all three points away to St Johnstone.

Celtic made it four wins in four with a 2-1 win against Callum Davidson’s St Johnstone side at McDiarmid Park.

Celtic’s dominance began to show as the first half wore on but the home side managed to keep the visitors at bay going into the break. It was a hard-fought contest for the Hoops who had to battle back from a goal down after St Johnstone grabbed went ahead against the run of play early in the second half.

The Hoops responded in impressive fashion however and were ahead 12 minutes later. A quick-fire brace from Odsonne Edouard saw the Frenchman score twice in two minutes. It was his eighth goal in six games and takes his tally to 20 for the season so far.

Neil Lennon was full of Praise for Edouard and the way the team performed.

“It was an excellent performance today,” said the Celtic manager. “I thought we thoroughly deserved the win. We could have won the game by more and, on a really difficult pitch, I thought we played some great football.

“I thought towards the end of the first half we were completely dominant and could have been one or two up. It was two beautiful goals from Odsonne and two beautiful team goals so I’m very happy with the performance.

“Ryan was great. He looked back to his best, effervescent and quality on the ball. I thought Rogic was very good for the period that he was on the pitch. We looked very good and my only frustration was not being a goal or two up at half time.”

The manager also highlighted how impressed he was with the way his team responded to losing a goal after dominating for so long.

'The character they showed from going a goal down was excellent. They could easily have given up but they’re in the mood at the minute and it’s a great win away from home.'

“They were playing well even before the goal and there’s good belief about them at the minute. I thought we started the game slowly and the longer the first half went on we were thoroughly on top.

“In the second half we got the goal against and in that instance sometimes the heads can drop. It was the total opposite, the body language was great. They showed character, personality and quality.

“We have another game to look forward to on Wednesday. We’re in a good place at the minute and we just want to keep that going.”
