Jonjoe Kenny was delighted to kick off his loan spell at Celtic with a confident win against Kilmarnock in midweek, and now looks forward to turning out for the first time at Paradise.

The Hoops host Motherwell at Celtic Park tomorrow (Saturday), and, should the 23-year-old defender feature, he’ll savour every minute inside one of the best arenas in the country.

“I’m looking forward to my first time at Celtic Park,” said Kenny. “It’s a historic stadium and there have been some unbelievable nights there.

“The choice to come to Celtic was quite simple – it’s the biggest club in Scotland right now, for me. The history meant I couldn’t turn it down and I was made up when they came in for me. I couldn’t wait to come here and play.

“The game on Wednesday night was brilliant. It was a tough game, it was different circumstances playing on astro turf as well. I enjoyed it, I haven’t played for a while and I missed that feeling of playing.

“The main thing was to bounce back from the game on Saturday and get the win, and that was great to do. For me personally, I want to play as much as I possibly can.”

From now until the end of the season, Kenny wants to do everything he can to help Celtic maintain a winning run with a group of players he rates highly – in ability terms, and the ways in which they’ve helped him settle in Glasgow.

He added: “I’m not a person who wants to be sitting on the bench, I want to be playing. Everton were fantastic in letting me come here. I haven’t really thought too far ahead, I just want to enjoy my time here and take it game by game.

“I don’t think we can forget how good the quality is in this team and how big this club is. Once we get a few wins on the go, then the performances will lift. You can’t forget the last nine years and how successful the club has been so far.

“I’ve come here and played a game and I’m loving every moment of playing football again.”
