Greg Taylor put in an impressive performance to help the Hoops beat St Mirren 4-0 in Paisley, playing his part in the victory which included winning the penalty which Odsonne Edouard converted for Celtic’s second goal on the night.

The 23-year-old has enjoyed a run of games in the starting XI since the middle of January, and he’s delighted to be playing his part for the team.

And having seen off a tough St Mirren side, he and his team-mates will now begin preparations for the trip to Perth this weekend to take on St Johnstone.

Speaking after the emphatic win over St Mirren, Taylor said: “In the second half, I thought we put on a good performance on a tough pitch. It was quite bobbly and it’s tough to do things as quick as we wanted but all credit to the boys that played and the subs that came on, getting the goals, so it was good.

'You’ve got to bide your time. It was nice to get the early goal and it was a lovely goal from Tom in the first half, and then in the second half we managed to get a few more against a well-drilled side.'

“I think, when you’ve got players like Tom Rogic, Ryan Christie, David Turnbull and Callum, as well as Odsonne and Albian, it certainly helps. And Griff comes on again, so we’ve got plenty of options there and we’re very fortunate.”

Sunday’s game will be the third meeting between Celtic and St Johnstone this season. Back in October last year, it took two goals in added time from Leigh Griffiths and Patryk Klimala to give Neil Lennon’s side a 2-0 win at McDiarmid Park, while in December, the sides fought out a 1-1 draw at Celtic Park.

So Taylor and his team-mates are under no illusions that the game in Perth on Sunday will be a tough one, with St Johnstone full of confidence after booking their place in the League Cup final.

“We can’t look too far ahead,” said Taylor. “We’ve got St Johnstone on Sunday and it’s important to try and get another three points and a good performance.

“It’ll be a tough fixture. We left it late the last time we played up there earlier this season. Again, they’re a side who are well-drilled and it will be tough for us, so we’ll need to get ourselves rested and recovered, and then be ready to go again on Sunday.”
