Greg Taylor was delighted to help Celtic record a fourth straight win on Sunday, and highlighted the team’s fighting spirit and the confidence gleaned from victory as reasons for the team’s recent uptick in form.

A quick-fire brace from Odsonne Edouard helped the Hoops come from behind against St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park at the weekend, the second goal of which Taylor assisted.

Now, the 23-year-old prepares for a visit from Aberdeen (Wednesday) as he and his peers target five wins from five.

“Every season and every game is an opportunity to impress and do the club proud, so every game we aim to get the three points for the club and for the boys,” said Taylor. “You can never rest on your laurels and I think that’s shown this season.

‘We can’t give anything up without a fight. We’re just looking at it one game at a time and it’s on to Wednesday night to try and get another three points.’

“We’ve won so many trophies domestically in a row, and we’ve got a massive fight on our hands this season, and we can’t ever rest on our laurels. I think we can still improve, but St Johnstone was another positive, another win and we go on to Wednesday.

“The confidence is growing and winning does that. There’s a good winning mentality inside the dressing room and certainly coming back from a goal down was good, so we’re pleased.

“We can’t give anything up without a fight. We’re just looking at it one game at a time and it’s on to Wednesday night to try and get another three points.”

When pressed about some of Celtic’s less favourable results this season, Taylor said he found it difficult to put his finger on what might have changed, underlining the high standards and intensity with which the squad trains daily – things which have been consistent since his arrival at Paradise in 2019.

He added: “Nothing has changed in training, all season it has been top level, there’s not a lot that has actually changed in terms of what we’re doing. We’ve just put a run of results together. Perhaps it’s because we don’t have that disruption now, I honestly don’t know.

“But everyone is fighting for each other and fighting for the three points.”
