Greg Taylor said Odsonne Edouard’s goal record for Celtic was a testament to the Frenchman’s dedication which he and the rest of the squad witness every day in training.

Odsonne Edouard scored for the fourth consecutive league game when he bagged Celtic’s second goal in the 2-1 win over Motherwell on Saturday (February 6). The last time the Frenchman scored in four league games in a row was during the 2018/19 season which he ended on 15 goals.

Despite having more than one interruption to his season because of Covid related issues, he is now just three goals shy of reaching 15 in the league again.

Taylor said Edouard’s record in the Hoops was impressive and added the numbers underlined the striker’s commitment to his craft.

“Someone said the other day that Odsonne has scored 70-odd goals since he joined Celtic,” said Taylor. “It’s crazy numbers in such a short amount of time.

“To be honest, it is testament to him because he works hard every single day and has that top-quality in his play to go with it. It’s very rarely that he misses games and it seems that he is constantly fit. That is also a credit to him.

'Odsonne has personal pride in his performance and he puts it in every day. In training as well as games. That’s certainly all that I have seen from him.'

As well as his goal record and work ethic in training, Taylor pointed out how resilient Edouard could be in trying to help the team.

“Sometimes when he is playing up there, it can be by himself or part of a two,” said Taylor. “But he certainly gets plenty of bumps and bruises from defenders and he just gets on with it.

“He continues to keep wanting to take the ball, to try to create something for a team-mate or finish things off himself.”
