Albian Ajeti played a key role in Celtic’s 4-0 win over Kilmarnock last night (Tuesday), and the Hoops striker believes he can continue to make a valuable contribution now that he’s feeling fit and healthy.

It was a confident and assured performance from Celtic at Rugby Park as Neil Lennon’s side outplayed their hosts. Scott Brown’s excellent diving header opened the scoring early on, but Killie managed to prevent Celtic from building on their lead before half-time.

Ajeti helped change that shortly after the restart when he won a penalty for Celtic. The Swiss striker chased down Jonjoe Kenny’s pass to get in front of Kilmarnock goalkeeper, Colin Doyle, who fouled him on the edge of the six-yard box. Odsonne Edouard converted the spot-kick before adding Celtic’s third less than 10 minutes later.

And Ajeti capped off the evening’s scoring with an excellent goal of his own, running on to Brown’s long ball and holding off a challenge from Zeno Rossi to slide the ball beyond Doyle.

The goal was Ajeti’s sixth in 16 league appearances this season and the 23-year-old said he was pleased to help the team secure all three points.

“Overall, it was a good game and I’m happy with my goal to help the team get the win,” he said.

It was Ajeti's first start since November and the Hoops striker said he is now looking to be more involved consistently after overcoming some injuries.

“I’ve been struggling over the last couple of months with my fitness and some injuries, but I’m happy I could be on the pitch and make my first start in a long time,” he said. “Hopefully, I can keep my health and keep helping the team.”

Ajeti eyeing more goals after strong outing against Kilmarnock
