Christmas and the New Year usually provides an opportunity to reflect on the past year.

With the Celtic B team playing their last home game of 2021 on Saturday against Bo’ness United, the squad are also using this festive period as a chance to look back on their own season to date.

Brody Paterson has been on the books at Celtic since the age of 12. Now aged 20, he’s one of the more experienced members of Tommy McIntyre’s side.

And he says he’s proud of the way the young Hoops have competed against teams with experienced former professionals in the Lowland League.

Speaking to the official Celtic website, Paterson said: “I think this league's been brilliant for us. It teaches you the ugly side of the game and I think sometimes no matter how much you try to play pretty football, you have to do that ugly side better than the other team.

'Every week we’re learning against players with different experiences and you can see a real improvement in our game.'

And Saturday’s match at the Penny Cars Stadium is another opportunity to show the progress that is being made.

With just one defeat in their last 10 and a late 2-0 away win to Bo’ness United earlier in the season, the stand-in captain has confidence they can continue that form.

“The last time we played them away from home, the first half was a real challenge,” he said.

“We’re expecting them to come out the traps flying after a difficult result for them at the weekend.

“They’re one of those teams with a real mix of experienced and young players. So, they bring both sides of the challenge that we will find really helpful for our development.”
