The Celtic B T]eam head into tonight’s (Friday’s) Lowland League match against East Stirling at Falkirk Stadium in a “good state of mind” according to manager Tommy McIntyre.

After a couple of impressive performances, beating Caledonian Braves 3-2 and Edinburgh University 3-0, McIntyre feels the squad have been working hard in training and are being rewarded.

He said: “We’ve had some good performances recently and we’re looking to carry that over to the next game. We know it’ll be hard, but we’re pleased with the way it’s been.”

Celtic B last played East Stirling at the Penny Cars Stadium back at the start of October and lost 1-0 in a tight contest.

“It was a close game. I thought we played well against them the first time. I think they’re a good side. They’re experienced and well organised it’ll be a good game - I’m looking forward to it,” McIntyre said.

It’s been more than two months since the team last faced the Falkirk outfit and the manager is sure his players’ improvement can be seen in the time lapsed since then.

He added: “It’s way they’ve been taking instruction and the way they’ve been playing. The style of play, the way we’ve been wanting to play in and out of possession. We’ve got a settled squad, probably more settled than we’ve had yet.

‘There are still individuals that are working hard. Obviously, they are pushing for a starting place which is good.’

“There’s competition for places. The reaction from the players has been excellent.”

McIntyre stated they want to continue that momentum and take it into the next games, making sure the players are fully prepared and rested.

A player who has certainly been rewarded for his hard work is Ben Wylie. The 20-year-old extended his contract at Celtic until 2024 this week.

“He’s a very good football player, he deserves the new contract, he’s worked hard and hopefully we’ll see him kick on through that as well,” McIntyre said.

“When you break it down and when you look at the data. In terms of possession and who’s creating the chances, who’s providing the assists, who’s getting the goals then Ben is very much up there.”

The B team boss said it’s important for the team to have that data and break down the team’s performances and individual performances.

“As always, it’s important that the first team are aware of that as well. They’re coming to a lot of games as well and we’re getting a lot of support from the first team.”

Celtic FC B play East Stirlingshire at Falkirk Stadium tonight, Friday, December 10 – 7:45pm kick-off.
