“The crowd helped so much and it was nice for all the people to come out, especially as it was freezing. For them to come and stay, I’m just glad we could win a trophy for them.

“This is the first trophy for the club as a professional side also, so it’s cool to be part of that and write some history for a club that already has so much history, to begin with.”

Cheyenne made the move to Celtic in the summer, having had spells in her native United States and also with Saint Étienne in France.

She makes up a global feel to the squad, with players from all corners of the world moving to the East End of Glasgow to play in Fran Alonso’s team.

She added: "Sunday was a show of how hard we have worked and how things have clicked for us.

'It’s huge that the women’s football is professional and we’re getting more players to come.'

“It’s so fun, there’s a bunch of us that live really close to each other and the other night we went out to dinner and there was nine of us at the table and nobody was from the same country. It's awesome football can bring us together and help us meet people we wouldn’t have before.

“This season, we wanted to win a trophy and get back to the Champions League again next year, so that’s the first one off the list and everyone is now excited for what’s to come.”
