Stephen Welsh believes the entire Hoops squad is pulling in the same direction under Ange Postecoglou, and described some of the team’s recent play as unstoppable under the guidance of the manager.

The 21-year-old was delighted to score in front of a packed Paradise against Hearts last weekend – and to play his part in Wednesday’s European win – and now looks forward to a tough contest against St Mirren tomorrow afternoon (Saturday).

Speaking to tomorrow's official matchday programme, he said: “We’re all listening to the way the manager wants us to play. The way we’re moving the ball around can be unstoppable at times. We know we have quality players all over the pitch.

‘If the defenders can feed the ball forward as quickly as possible, that gives us a better chance of creating scoring opportunities.’

“When we’re playing out from the back and pressing on the front foot, sometimes you can be left 1v1 or 2v1 at the back. But that’s how we want to play, we want to play attacking football, so myself and the other defenders always need to be switched on for the counter-attack.

“As the games go on, though, we’ll get fitter and will be able to maintain in the intensity for the full 90 minutes, and I think we started seeing that against AZ in midweek.”
