Ange Postecoglou is anticipating a special atmosphere at Paradise this weekend as Celtic play their first home league game of the season against Dundee.

A total of 24,500 fans will be allowed into Celtic Park this Sunday (August 8) to watch Celtic take on newly-promoted Dundee in what will be the largest number of supporters inside the stadium since the pandemic.

With full capacity crowds permitted from Monday, August 9, the Bhoys will soon benefit from the backing of a packed Celtic Park, but Ange Postecoglou is excited to welcome more fans back this Sunday and believe the larger crowd will be a huge benefit for the players.

“It’s not just myself that’s looking forward to having the fans back,” said the Australian manager. “I think the players who were here last year really missed that atmosphere at Celtic Park.

'It’s the first home league game of the season and I’m sure the supporters will be up for it and it should be a great atmosphere.'

Celtic come into Sunday’s game off the back of a 4-2 win away to Jablonec in the third qualifying round of the Europa League and will look to follow up on that with a victory in the first home league game of the season.

Kyogo Furuhashi scored in his first start for Celtic in the game against the Czech side and fellow new Bhoy Liel Abada also got on the score-sheet along with James Forrest and Ryan Christie.

Ange Postecoglou said he expects further improvements from his team going forward as he highlighted the importance of consistently strong performances in the league.

“We just have to keep improving our performances,” he said. “In every game we’ve had an opportunity to win games but it’s important in the league that we pick up points consistently and there’s an opportunity there on Sunday, particularly at home, to do that.”
