This weekend Celtic will play their first game since Scott Brown announced he will bid farewell to the club at the end of the season. However, the Hoops captain insisted his focus is on the present and helping his team reach another Scottish Cup final.

Brown confirmed last week that he would leave Celtic in the summer to take up a player/coaching role at Aberdeen next season, but his focus for now is on Celtic's Scottish Cup third round tie at home to Falkirk this Saturday night (April 3).

“Just now, I’m only focused on playing as many games as possible between now and the end of the season and hopefully we’ll get to another cup final as well,” said the 36-year-old.

“We have a huge game at the weekend and we need to make sure we get a good result and put on a good performance at home. It’ll be a good one for us and it’s good to get all the lads back after the international break.

'For the moment, I’m a Celtic player and I’ll do whatever it takes in every game, whether I play or not, to do what’s best for the lads in that dressing room and the management staff.'

“That’s what I’m here to do, it’s what I’ve been paid to do for the last 14 years of my career and it’s what I love to do. I’ll give 100 per cent for whatever team I play for i that’s my mentality. When cross that white line and go on the park, I fight and win games.”

The Celtic captain did reflect on his time at the club and said he would greatly miss creating so many special memories with the Celtic fans.

“I’ve had 14 fantastic years at this club and I’ve enjoyed every single moment of it,” he said. “It’s been a wonderful career for myself and I’ve enjoyed those moments with the fans and it’s just a pity that I can’t share the last five or six games with them and see them in the stadium.

"They’ve been a part of my journey as much as I’ve been part of theirs. It’s been great, it’ll be emotional times when I finish the last game of the season.”

Scott Brown fully focused on Scottish Cup victory against Falkirk
