Greg Taylor said Celtic are anticipating a different challenge from Aberdeen tomorrow night with the Dons playing their first league game under their new manager, but the Hoops defender was adamant he and his team-mates were hungry for a win.

Celtic travel to Pittodrie to face Aberdeen in the league tomorrow night (Wednesday) and Taylor believes the home side will ensure their opponents are in for a challenging 90 minutes.

Stephen Glass oversaw his first game in charge as Aberdeen manager on Saturday (April 17) as his side progressed to the quarter-final of the Scottish Cup after defeating Livingston in a penalty shoot-out.

Tomorrow’s Premiership fixture will be the first time Celtic face Aberdeen under their new manager, and with Aberdeen four points behind third-place Hibernian, Celtic will face a highly motivated Dons side.

The game will also see Scott Brown come up against his future team after the Celtic captain announced he would be leaving Celtic at the end of the season to join Aberdeen. Taylor was quick to point out that the Hoops skipper was as focused as ever on getting a win at Pittodrie.

“Broony’s one of the most focused players I’ve ever played with and all of his focus will be on tomorrow night for us,” said Taylor. “He’s been brilliant for me since I signed. He’s a top guy off the pitch but on the pitch, he leads by example. We’re losing a massive player and a massive leader but it’s football and these things happen. Still to this day, he’s out there setting examples and he trains as if it’s his last. It’s a credit to himself that he’s been doing that for so long.”

Celtic’s league position cannot change between now and the end of the season given the points gap between John Kennedy’s side and Hibernian, but Taylor insisted the team’s motivation was resolute.

“We need to focus on each game as it comes and finish the season as strongly as we can,” said the 23-year-old. “We’re well aware it’s been a disappointing campaign but there are four games left. Every game is an opportunity to represent this club and one we look forward to so we need to finish this season as strongly as we can.

“Every day, whether it’s training or a game, is an opportunity to impress. You have to appreciate the opportunity you have and that doesn’t change whether you have an interim manager or another manager watching somewhere else because you’re always trying to impress.”

Greg Taylor says determined Celts will be ready for Aberdeen test
