Fresh from scoring and assisting during Sunday’s confident 5-1 away win over Spartans, Celtic’s Anna Filbey looks forward to tonight’s (Wednesday) Glasgow derby at Paradise.

The 21-year-old midfielder is currently on loan from London side Tottenham Hotspur, and made her debut in a 3-0 defeat to Glasgow City earlier this month. Since, Fran Alonso’s side have overcome Hearts 3-0, brushed past Spartans and now target maximum points against their city rivals.

“We had a game on the Sunday against Spartans and I had a slightly different role to play, I was playing a bit higher, and to be honest I loved it!” said Filbey in a pre-match press conference. “It was nice to get a bit higher up the pitch and get involved in the play. To get a goal and an assist was nice, I really enjoyed it!”

Currently living with team-mate Natalie Ross, Filbey said she’s enjoyed her time in Glasgow so far despite the restrictions levied by lockdown, and reckons she might already consider herself a Celtic fan – so moved has she found herself by what the club stands for.

To this end, she’s been made well aware of the significance of this evening’s derby at Celtic Park.

She added: “I’m definitely aware of what it means. From going to the stadium when I signed, I think that set it up for me – I had the butterflies and the goose bumps.

“I’m fully prepared for this game, I’m ready for it and we’re going to fight for it.

“I think it was crucial after the Glasgow City game to get those two wins which has given us momentum and has really set us up going into this game. Hopefully we can carry it on!”
