NO sooner had the final whistle gone at St Mirren Park on Wednesday night than James Forrest began looking forward Celtic’s next game. Tomorrow’s (Saturday) fixture against Livingston will be a unique experience for the Hoops winger.

The clash with Gary Holt's side will see Forrest face his younger brother, Alan, for the first time in professional football. Alan Forrest signed for Livingston in the summer on a two-year deal from Ayr United. The 24-year-old winger has started six of Livingston’s seven league games so far this season, and netted his debut goal in a 2-2 draw away to Motherwell.

His older brother said he is anticipating a difficult game against Livingston but is looking forward to coming up against his sibling.

“I think Livingston will be a hard game as well,” said James Forrest. “I’ve watched a few of their games this season. We’re looking forward to getting back to Celtic Park and trying to close the gap even further.

“It’s the first season my brother’s played in the SPFL and when that fixture came out we were hoping fans would be back so the family could go. It’s a good occasion and hopefully, we get on top. It’s never happened in our careers and the family will be hoping we both do well, but I hope Celtic get the win anyway.”

Celtic’s midweek trip to Paisley was a hugely important game for Neil Lennon’s side, who were targeting maximum points from the first of their two games in hand.

And while it wasn’t the best of starts, with Jim Goodwin’s side taking the lead inside three minutes, Shane Duffy equalised for Celtic shortly afterwards before Forrest completed the comeback before half-time.

It was a spectacular goal from the 29-year-old, who is now closing in on 100 goals for Celtic. Ryan Christie delivered an excellent cross into the box and Forrest bulleted in a wonderful header. He was delighted with his contribution to that win, but the focus is now on ensuring another win this Saturday.

“Ryan’s deliveries for the goals were brilliant and Cal put in some great balls last Saturday as well,” said Forrest. “The boys are attacking them and getting great goals. We’re happy with the win and looking forward to Saturday now.”
