CELTIC return to domestic action tomorrow (Sunday) when they take on St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park. Neil Lennon’s side have enjoyed an impressive start to their Premiership campaign, with seven wins and just one draw from their opening eight fixtures, and the Hoops will be looking to continue that run going this weekend, ahead of the latest break for international matches.

And just 24 hours after the game in Perth, the transfer window will close, something the Celtic manager will welcome.

He’s been delighted with the business the club has done in this window, with the permanent signing of Vasilis Barkas, David Turnbull and Albian Ajeti, along with Shane Duffy arriving on loan for the season and Moi Elyounoussi returning to the club for another season-long loan.

And while the Hoops boss is still looking to possibly further strengthen his squad, he’s also confident of keeping his squad intact for what will be an exciting season ahead.

“We’ll go into the game against St Johnstone with confidence and we know what the incentive is – to keep piling on the pressure and keep this winning run going, and keep trying to hit top form,” he said.

“We’ll obviously have to balance the squad. We got back on Friday, having played late on Thursday night. It’s an early kick-off on Sunday so we may freshen things up a bit.

“We’ve still got decent depth at the minute. We are looking to add to that, while keeping all our important players, and I think that’s really important for the club in this window.

“I’m really pleased with the business we’ve done. We’ve brought in good players – I’m delighted with David, he had a really good 45 minutes (against Hibs). Albian’s had a stellar start. The injury is a blow to us but hopefully it’s not going to be long-term.

"Vasilis had a great game on Thursday, he looked really assured, and Shane Duffy has been superb since he’s come in. Add to that, getting Moi’s loan deal again for this season has been really important, for him and for us, and he’s starting to really find top form.

“So the business that we’ve done has really been superb, and that will tell as the season goes on. It’s been a long, protracted window this time, but I’m confident that all the players will be here come Monday and then we can look ahead.”
