CELTIC manager Neil Lennon accepted the Scottish Premiership Manager of the Month award for September today (Tuesday), and hailed the recent form of his players in the process.

On the pitch last month, the manager’s side recorded four straight league wins and a victory over Latvian side, Riga FC, in the UEFA Europa League third qualifying round. The nine-in-a-row champions have carried that form into October, with a win over FK Sarajevo that secured group-stage football, and a 2-0 win over St Johnstone last weekend.

“We’ve had more consistent performances,” said the Irishman of his side’s recent form. “I don’t think the level of the performances is what we can get to, I think there’s more to come, but certainly the mentality of the team is good.

“We suffered a massive disappointment with our defeat to Ferencvaros, but the response to that has been brilliant. We’re keeping clean sheets now, that's four in a row, so we’ve tidied that up to a certain degree and we’re dominating games and possession.

“There’s a lot of positives to take from this run, and overall, it’s the players’ desire and will to win games under immense pressure and they’ve handled it brilliantly.”

Neil Lennon reflected on Celtic’s positive transfer window incomings, and is likewise pleased to keep a number of key players at the club moving forward.

Speaking specifically about Tom Rogic, who returned to the pitch during Sunday's win at St Johnstone, the Irishman said: “Tom Rogic has been training well in the last few weeks. He’s had a couple of knee and ankles problems, but at the minute, he’s good.

“He’s in the building for the next couple of weeks now so we can get some more physical work in with him. He will definitely play a part from here. There was a bid in for him, it was accepted but the deal fell through.

“Tom is here with us now and I’m delighted. He came on and played very well at the weekend. If he’s fit, he’s a wonderful player to have around the place.”
