AHEAD of tomorrow’s first Glasgow derby of the 2020/21 campaign, Mohamed Elyounoussi said he and his team-mates are focused on their own game as they target a winning performance and three points.

Doing so would put the Hoops two points clear at the top of the Premiership with a game in hand, and, should he feature tomorrow, the Norwegian internationalist is looking forward to his first taste of the fixture at Paradise.

He said: “Like everyone else, I’m looking forward to this game. It would be nice if the fans were there but that doesn’t take away how huge the game is.

“We have a big squad and good strength in the squad, and I’m sure everyone who plays will do everything for the club, I’m not concerned about that. No fans doesn’t take away the meaning of the game. The emotion might not be there, but we’ll be prepared to play as good as possible to try and win the game.”

Elyounoussi’s only taste of the Glasgow derby so far came during last year’s 1-0 League Cup final win, where he played 45 minutes with an injured foot. The 26-year-old in turn missed the last league fixture between the sides in December, but said those games are in the past and tomorrow’s encounter is all that matters.

He added: “Whatever happens in the past stays there, we focus on the one in front of us. We trained well today and we had a good session. We don’t think about the last game at all, we’re only focused on what’s ahead. Fitness-wise I’m good.

“I played 90 minutes on Wednesday with my country, travelled yesterday, but by tomorrow I’m certain I’ll have fresh legs. We’ve done everything to be prepared, so that won’t be a problem. It doesn’t matter who we play against, it’s the same mission. Tomorrow we want to do everything we can to win and we’re fully prepared for it.

“The derby is as big as it can get. It’s one of the biggest games in the world. I’m looking forward to this one. It’s a huge game, one we hope to win, and we know there will be a lot of fans watching and we’ll do everything we can to make them happy.”
