Celtic’s performance against Ross County in their 2-0 win was the perfect Christmas present for Neil Lennon who said he was delighted with his side’s display.

Four days on from winning the Scottish Cup for a fourth successive season and clinching a Quadruple Treble, Celtic returned to action in the Scottish Premiership with a dominant win against Ross County.

There were no signs of fatigue from the Hoops after their hard-fought cup final at Hampden which went to extra-time and penalties.

Neil Lennon’s side immediately set about the visitors and established a well-deserved lead midway through the first half thanks to some excellent play from Jeremie Frimpong and a good finish from David Turnbull. Leigh Griffiths made it 2-0 in the second half amidst a multitude of chances created by Celtic.

Commenting on the game after the final whistle, Neil Lennon credited his team for an all-round solid display.

“I thought we played really well and we could've won the game by a lot more,” said the Celtic manager. “It was a very good team performance all-round, and I'm delighted.

“I thought Jeremie had an excellent game and was a real threat down the right. It was a good finish from David, and it was nice to be a goal up in the first half. It was a great second goal, but we missed some great chances in the second half.

“Mikey came close as well but they got a good block. Griff had a couple of great chances to get a hat-trick tonight and Odsonne had the ball stuck under his feet a little bit.

'I’m really pleased with the performance. We kept a clean sheet, and we didn't look in any trouble. We seem to be going in the right direction again.'

“I’m pleased with the quality of chances we created tonight. They were very good chances and if we keep playing like that we're going to give somebody a right good going over.”

Celtic have looked increasingly impressive with their performances in recent weeks. Neil Lennon praised the team’s output and reiterated the team’s focus was only on their next opponent.

“Getting the level of performance and the wins is the aim. We’re just taking it game by game and not getting carried away. I'm very pleased with the performance tonight and the quality of the performance as well. It was a comfortable performance and a really good three points.”
