Neil Lennon described Celtic’s performance in their 3-0 win against Hamilton as ‘outstanding’ and said his team were now looking more like themselves after another dominant win.

It was a stormy evening at New Douglas Park with heavy rainfall and strong winds making conditions difficult on an already challenging artificial pitch but that didn’t prevent Celtic from putting on a show.

Neil Lennon’s side were clearly highly motivated to impress their manager and they did that from the off as they heaped pressure on their opponents throughout the first half with several great chances.

The opening goal didn’t come until early in the second half when an on-form Edouard scored a thoroughly deserved goal from a penalty. Leigh Griffiths doubled the lead six minutes later with a greats strike after linking up well with Edouard to net his third goal in three games.

David Turnbull completed the scoring 15 minutes from the end with a close-range finish.

Neil Lennon was delighted with his team’s showing and said it was the best performance from them for a while.

“I’m delighted with the 90 minutres,” said the Celtic manager. “I thought we were outstanding.

'We played brilliantly in the first half in a really strong wind and could have been two or three up by half time.'

“We hit the post, the keeper made a good save from Griff early on. We had umpteen chances in the first half and the quality of chances we were creating pleased me.

“We got what we deserved in the second half. The attitude of the players, the way they played, the fluency and body language about them as well was the best it’s been for a while. It was a very comprehensive performance and the football was great.

“Leigh played very well. It was a great goal and he’ll be disappointed he never got a hat-trick. He’s been a breath of fresh air the last few weeks. We’re just keeping him fit and keeping him at it. When you look at Odsonne’s body language today, he was exceptional.”

Next up for Celtic is a home game against Dundee United Wednesday (December 30) and Neil Lennon was hopeful on building on a ‘very encouraging’ performance from his side in the upcoming fixtures.

“The performance was very encouraging. We’re improving and individuals are improving. We’re starting to look more like ourselves. We have a bit of work to do, we know that and we look forward to the Dundee United game. We’ll look to win that and take things from there but I’m delighted with the performance today.”
