Ahead of tomorrow afternoon’s (Wednesday) Scottish Premiership encounter with Dundee United, Celtic manager Neil Lennon stressed a desire to extend his side’s winning run to six from six in all competitions. Overcoming Micky Mellon’s men would mark the Hoops’ fourth straight league victory, following last weekend’s comprehensive 3-0 win in Hamilton.

Speaking to the media at Lennoxtown, the Irishman spoke in praise of the late Jim McLean, a “giant” of Scottish football who sadly passed away on Boxing Day, while also paying tribute to the lives lost during the Ibrox disaster of January 2, 1971.

Looking ahead to tomorrow night’s fixture, the Hoops boss expects a stiff challenge from a tricky opponent who he deems capable at both ends of the pitch.

He said: “Dundee United have goals in them and they’ve got a really good goalkeeper in Benjamin Siegrist. He’s made some incredible saves, and these things are at the top of you in your mind. We’ll try to break them down the best we can, and also stay mindful of their attack at the other end.

Neil Lennon described clinching the unprecedented Quadruple Treble earlier this month as a huge relief for his players, which has instilled them with new levels of confidence. Moreover, the Irishman was delighted with his side’s performance against Hamilton last Saturday which he reckons bodes well ahead of Dundee United on Wednesday and against Rangers at Ibrox this weekend.

He added: “This week is like every other week. We’re on a decent run, we want to maintain it. I think tomorrow night will be a really good game. I don’t think this will be a defining moment, not with so many games left. We had a bad run there, but we’re starting to show a bit of good form and consistency. The team is capable of going on a run now.”
