The Fratellis bassist is often in the crowd himself when it comes to Celtic matches, and having an insight into both perspectives has enlightened him to how much the Celtic players must be missing the supporters.

'There’s absolutely parallels there in terms of missing the fans. I said from day one when football started back up again, it’s the same as us playing in a room with no people.'

"If we’re on tour, we pretty much do the same thing night after night and what changes it is the different city and the different people.

“That’s what keeps gigging and touring different for us, going from a different place day-to-day. Crowds are different in every city all over the world. To me, an audience is 50 percent of the gig and if they buzz off it, we’ll buzz off it bit more.

“I could see that connection when football and sports started back. The players must be missing that and, while every team is on the same boat, Celtic Park is a fortress when the fans are there. That’s part of the deal, coming to Celtic Park and being intimidated. The Celtic players have a wall of sound behind them and there’s no way not having that won’t have an effect on the players. Opposition teams have been saying that for years so for teams to come there and not get that is a huge benefit to them.”
