WITH two goals to his name in Dingwall, and 15 overall this season, Ryan Christie is flying. Still, the 24-year-old is determined to keep his foot on the gas as the Hoops embark on a busy December schedule – a run of eight games, which includes a cup final against Rangers and a second Glasgow derby at Paradise.

Celtic’s emphatic 4-1 win against the Staggies on Sunday followed Thursday’s UEFA Europa League triumph against Rennes, but Christie knows there’s no room for complacency with so many must-win games ahead.

"We were delighted to go to Ross County and play the way we did," he said. "The gaffer touched on keeping our consistency high. We know how hard it is because the domestic games come thick and fast at this time of year. We’re just trying to keep our momentum going right now, we’ve had a good run of games, but as soon as you relax, that’s when you slip. We must keep on top of things.

"The performance against County was good, though, and it was always going to be a tough game in Dingwall. Especially with us playing on Thursday night, you’ve got to have a quick turnaround, you’ve to start sharp and I thought we did that, to be fair.

"We were obviously a little bit frustrated to concede the equaliser, but to get the second goal before half-time was good. We really kicked on after that, which was what the manager wanted.”

Christie’s second goal was assisted by Kris Ajer, when the Norwegian defender split the County defence to assist his off-pitch pal. From there, the 24-year-old’s brace was complemented by goals from Tom Rogic and super-sub Mikey Johnston – the latter scoring just one minute after replacing the Australian.

Christie joked: "It’s about time from Kris, I’m always on at him! No, to be fair, it was a great pass, particularly when there were a few boys sitting in, which makes them harder to break down. It’s good when you’ve got a centre-half who can see that pass.

"He put it on a plate for me, which put us in a good position going into the break. The boys were dominant after that and I’m equally buzzing for Tom and for Mikey as well to get on the scoresheet.

"As for my own goal tally, I’m happy with it. There’s plenty of room to improve, though. I’ve got my own targets, and I’m still wanting a few more by Christmas. My stats are something I’ve been working on. The gaffer has said that, me playing where I do, that allows me to be more advanced, and I’m happy to do that."
