DURING Tuesday's 6-0 hammering of KR Reykjavik, a brace from Mohamed Elyounoussi was complemented by a fine solo effort from Odsonne Edouard, a bullet header from Christopher Jullien, an unlikely goal for Greg Taylor, and an own goal fumbled over the line by the Icelandic side’s Arnor Adalsteinsson.

The Hoops dominated their UEFA Champions League first qualifying round tie at Paradise, on a night which saw new signing and late substitute Albian Ajeti make his debut with 18 minutes of normal time remaining.

Having played together at FC Basel, Elyounoussi is confident in his ex-team-mate’s potential and can’t wait to see him hit his stride in green and white.

“Before he signed, I told him about my experience because we were in similar situations,” said Elyounoussi. “I didn’t need to tell him about the club, but I told him about the quality of the players, the coaching staff, and how I thought it could be good for him.

“Celtic is an amazing club, amazing fans and I knew he would enjoy it. We need to give him that little bit of time, give him a couple of weeks, some game time and as soon as he scores the first goal, I think he will score a lot.

“If we both play, we know what to expect from each other. Hopefully he can get his confidence back and get to where he was at Basel. It’s the same situation as me. He has some tough competition up that end of the pitch, Odsonne scored a great goal against Reykjavik, but I’m sure we’ll both of them on the pitch during the season.”
