BY clinching their ninth successive league championship, Neil Lennon’s Celtic equalled the phenomenal record set by Jock Stein’s side five decades ago. Having served as skipper for all nine of this remarkable run, Scott Brown became the first captain to do since Billy McNeill – and the current captain is now focused on going one step further.

“Every season is a big season for us,” said Brown in an exclusive interview with Celtic TV. “For us, we always take it one game at a time. We don’t want to be looking ahead, shouting about 10 in-a-row. What’s important for us is to start the season well.

“We did well in the cups this year, and it was a great season. There was a lot of talk, a lot of ups and downs, but we got over all of that and I think that’s what a strong and quality team does.”

Now, Brown can’t wait to hit the ground running in the 2020/21 campaign, and hopes to draw from the phenomenal form he and his team-mates showed in the second half of last season following the winter break.

He added: “I’m too sure about what’s happening with the Champions League qualifiers, but we just want to hit the ground the running.

“The way that we finished the latter part of the season there was exceptional, so hopefully we can put that form into the start of the season. With that, hopefully we can start the season with a proper boom.”
