'The Story Of' is a web series dedicated to small but special tales from Celtic’s illustrious history. Here, Scott Brown weighs up his options in the midst of a squabble.

SCOTT Brown and James Forrest are the only players in Neil Lennon’s squad to have been part of all nine of the current nine in-a-row run. They’ve played together for ten years, since Forrest’s 2010 Hoops debut, at club and international level, and are pals off the pitch as well as on it.

Speaking in the winger’s official Celtic biography Homegrown Hero, the captain spoke hypothetically about joining James in management, years from now when their playing careers have come to end. And then he recalled a memory of Forrest and Tom Rogic from a recent Glasgow derby which made him think twice.

“Me and Wee Jamesy in the dugout?” said Brown. “There’s not a big body between us, is there? We’d need a big guy, just in case we get into a fight.

“That’s another thing, actually. We played Rangers at Celtic Park, the 2-1 game in March 2019, and there was a bit of a tussle at the end of the match. We came across a very funny clip where Jamesy and Tom Rogic are standing away from all the action at the back, just watching everybody.

“It’s heated, everyone is pushing and arguing, the dugouts are involved, and James is there in a world of his own thinking, ‘I need to stretch before I leave the pitch!’”

On the pitch, Forrest netted the game’s winning goal on 82 minutes, which marked a vital stride towards the club’s eighth consecutive league championship. Still, Brown enjoyed watching the footage back of his team-mates staying well clear of the post-match squabble.

He added: “So if I’m in a fight, do not put James Forrest anywhere near me!”
