ODSONNE Edouard is the Dafabet Celtic Player of the Year for 2019/20. The French striker, who hit 28 goals for the Hoops in the nine-in-a-row season, was the fans’ choice for the award.

The 22-year-old has now scored 62 goals for Celtic in 126 appearances since joining the club back in August 2017.

This season, he has been in superb form throughout the campaign, scoring his first goal in the team’s first competitive match of the season, a 3-1 away win against FK Sarajevo, while the first of 22 Premiership goals came on the opening day of the campaign in a 7-0 victory over St Johnstone at home.

He fired home the opening goal in the 2-0 Glasgow derby win at Ibrox back in September, while he has netted 11 goals in 2020 to help the Hoops make it nine-in-a-row.

“It’s been a great season for the team and for me, so I’m very happy,” Celtic’s Player of the Year said.

“Without question, this team deserves to be champions. The most important thing to me, personally, is to get the chance to celebrate the title with the fans and my team-mates.

“On a personal level, I was frustrated that we didn’t get to finish the league on the pitch. I think every one of the players is the same.

“I don’t normally share my personal targets, but this season it was 30 goals minimum, especially the longer time went on. I’m sure if the league had continued as normal I could have scored 30 goals.

“But, the most important thing is the title. Celtic winning the title, to win nine in-a-row, which we did - that’s good for me. I’m happy with this.”

Due to current circumstances, Celtic’s 2020 Awards Dinner was postponed in April. However, we still plan to have a fantastic celebration event to honour this years winners, with those supporters’ tickets already purchased being valid for this re-scheduled event. We will announce the details of this event in due course.
