CELTIC are celebrating their ninth league title in a row, the second time in the club's history that this has been achieved. And we're celebrating some iconic moments from some of our most famous No.9s.

Today's moment of magic comes from Georgios Samaras, and his double in a Glasgow Derby win at Ibrox.

CELTIC kicked off 2011 in the best possible manner, with a 2-0 victory over Rangers at Ibrox on January 2. And Georgios Samaras was the goal hero for the Hoops, scoring both goals in a dominant win.

The first goal came just after the hour mark, the Greek striker latching on to a long ball over the top from Joe Ledley and gliding past Allan McGregor who had raced out some 30 yards from his goal. And Samaras kept his cool to slot the ball home with his left foot.

Eight minutes later and it was 2-0 to Celtic. Samaras drove towards the Rangers goal and was brought down inside the box. He picked himself up and duly converted the spot-kick himself.

“I think it was a great performance from the whole team,” he said. “All the players worked really hard throughout the game and I think, in the end, the best team on the pitch won the game. In the second-half we were much, much better than Rangers.

“I feel really good with myself that I scored two goals but, first and foremost, it’s the team. That’s the most important thing and we’ve now got three wins in a row and we need to continue that form in the future.

“It was a nice feeling to score at Ibrox. It was my first goal here. I don’t know if these were my most important goals or if it was my best performance for Celtic.

“It’s a great feeling when you beat Rangers, but the most important thing now is to win our next games and stay top of the league.”

And Celtic manager Neil Lennon said of his Greek striker: “I thought Samaras was unplayable. I spoke to Gordon Strachan on Saturday about the lone striker role. It was whether or not to put Sammy up there and leave him to it.

“He’s had the eye of the tiger about him recently and I fancied him to do something. In the end, we decided to go for it and it worked. His movement was first-class and his execution and composure great.”
