THE nine-in-a-row festivities continued for Callum McGregor and Leigh Griffiths yesterday, when both Hoops stars received an unexpected special delivery – in the shape of the Scottish Premiership title.

Under normal circumstances, McGregor, Griffiths and all of Neil Lennon’s history-making squad would have celebrated their achievement on Trophy Day in front of a full-house at Paradise, but new socially-distanced measures are required to acknowledge their deserved and well-earned success this campaign.

First delivered to the doorstep of Academy graduate McGregor – who made a staggering 50 appearances at club level this season in all competitions – the Hoops’ tireless midfielder was delighted to get his hands on the championship once more.

“It is absolutely brilliant to get my hands on this trophy again,” said McGregor. “Given the current situation, it’s really special having the title delivered to our doors, and it’s a great feeling and a huge honour to play my part in this incredible nine-in-a-row achievement.”

The league trophy was then dropped off at the door of Griffiths, who, with 115 goals in 233 appearances to his name since signing in 2014, is the club’s top scorer throughout its nine-successive-titles run.

“We’re gutted not to be celebrating this incredible achievement with each other and the fans,” said Griffiths. “But these are unusual times, and we have to do what’s safe for us all. Getting the trophy delivered is the next best thing, and getting our hands on it again is the best feeling in the world.

“We deserve it – the players, the manager, the coaches, the fans – and we can’t wait to hit the ground running next season. We'll do all we can to bring the title home again this time next year.”
