HAVING captained his side to all nine of the current nine-in-a-row run of league titles, skipper Scott Brown appreciates the Hoops’ recent success more than most. In doing so, the 34-year-old hailed everyone’s role at Celtic Football Club – from the players to the coaches, the supporters, and the employees at Paradise and Lennoxtown.

“You thrive on the fans,” Brown said in an interview with Celtic TV. “Especially for me, I’m getting towards the end of my career now, and you appreciate the fans coming out on Saturdays when it’s raining.

“You appreciate people coming on ferries from Ireland, jumping on boats for hours on end just to see us playing for an hour and a half, so it’s their determination to come and watch games that drives you. For us to get out there on the park and produce for them – to do a treble, double, the Treble Treble – is always what we want to do.”

Brown stressed that the health and wellbeing of fans is of utmost priority during the current coronavirus crisis, but said he and his team-mates cannot wait to return to Celtic Park and get back to doing what they do best.

“We can’t wait to get back on the training pitch, and we can’t wait to get back to playing in front of a packed Celtic Park as well – we just need to make sure that everything is safe and that we do it properly,” he added.

“As soon as we get back on that field, it’s all about winning games again. People will forget about nine-in-a-row as soon as the season starts, so it’s about focusing on the next league title.

“We’ve got a great bunch of lads, a great backroom and a great manager. We’ve got people who work at Lennoxtown that don’t get appreciated as much as they should, but the success is a result of the whole club working together as one.

“Everybody works together to get the best out of every single person, and we’ve all got one goal: to win the next match. The manager is very sharp on getting us together and keeping team spirit is huge for us.”
